| Description | Acknowledges letter of 12 Jul. Dr Phillips has given Parkin a promissory note for £12 half year dividend, to be credited to Newton's account in three months. Asks pardon for not answering Newton's enquiry re [doctor's] advertisement in the London Journal. Advises against taking the medicines advertised, giving two cautionary tales: of a boy who was due to have a stone removed by surgeons at St Bartholomew's Hospital but was discharged by his mother and given medicines instead, unsuccessfully; and of a man who died after taking medicines.
