Description
Left-hand half of a document which has been divided in two. The right-hand half is listed as D940/Folder 3/Item 6 above.
Draft/copy order by the Rt Hon Sir Thomas Wryothesley, Lord Chancellor of England [i.e. Sir Thomas Wriothesley, later 1st Earl of Southampton (1505-1550)] and the court of Chancery. The order appears to be the result of arbitration, as it is said to have the agreement of all parties concerned: Clement Agard [of Foston] and Sir Edward Asheton [Aston], knight, and Thomas Agard [of Scalford, Co. Leics]. The order says that Thomas Agard is to pay on behalf of Asheton to Clement Agard £40 in full recompence of all title claims that Clement Agard had or pretended to have. Also, that Clement Agard is to pay Thomas Agard's legal costs.
The suggested date for this document derives from Wriothesley's period of office as Lord Chancellor.
