TitleLetter
Date[16th cent]
DescriptionThomas Holl[and?], Kilmainham, Ireland, to William Agard, Foston.
Acknowledges receipt of his letter of 8 Jun, received on 16 Jun. As instructed, the writer and Stevens spoke with Sir Harry Harrington. He undertook to write a letter to Agard which would satisfy all his concerns. Sir Harry says he is willing that Agard's land should be "?ranseled" [?searched] and that he should enter into the Hoole lands himself, but that the executors would not allow this.
Within two days of seeing the letters sent to Mr Watterhouse, Sir Harry left for Connacht with his wife and Mrs Mary Fearny.
Sir Harry offered Mr Challoner £10 for a cast of hawks, but was refused; writer requests instructions regarding what to do with Mr Challoner.
Asks for instructions on how to deal with people who claim Agard owes them money: Mr Fagan, Sir John, and "Poox and Stase". Walshe of The Green claims to have paid a mark (13s 4d) of the money he owes Agard to the writer's wife, and has Arthur Mole as a witness. Stevens has delivered all Agard's letters to Monckne, but with no answer so far.
Postscript: Mr Nicolas Fitzsomons has said that he will pay no more out of ?Rahenston than he does to Sir Henry and the executors, i.e. £4 10s each. It has been impossible to get any hawks this year, because of wars and a poor summer. Stevens will Agard him informed of all the business transacted on his behalf.
The signature and year are both incomplete.
