DescriptionThis committee was set up in 1946, to supplement the finance committee's control over salary matters, which had existed since the previous advisory Salaries committee was abolished in 1923 (for minutes of this, see 1/22/1). The committee was responsible for determining terms and conditions of service, as agreed with the National Joint Council, staff training and the engagement of staff. Minutes of the Appeals sub-committee are included here. This was replaced by the Management Services committee in 1968 (see 1/65/1).
