Description	The Probation committee was originally formed in 1926 from representatives of the petty sessional divisions in the county, meeting under the auspices of the chairman of Quarter Sessions. Following the abolition of Quarter Sessions, QS nominated members were replaced in 1972 by a specified number of Crown Court judges (in Derbyshire's case, one) and a representative from the Magistrates Court committee.
