Trent House Badminton Club
Administrative HistoryThe Derby Railway Man's Club had been formed before 1935 by staff at the British Rail Carriage and Wagon Works on Litchurch Lane, who used to play in the canteen there. The Trent House Badminton Club was formed from railway technical and clerical staff based at the Railway Technical Centre (RTC), London Road, who also used the same facilities at Litchurch Lane. The two clubs merged in 1979. From the mid-1990s membership declined, particularly impacted by the privatisation of British Rail in 1994. In 2004, matches were held at Springwood Leisure Centre in Oakwood; after 2008 formal minutes were no longer kept. The club was closed in January 2019.
Custodial HistoryThese records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in March 2019 by the former Secretary of the club.
