DescriptionIn Greek mythology Omphale was at one time the owner and then the husband of Hercules; in the print her head is shown in profile, wearing skin of the Nemean Lion killed by Hercules. Taken from "A select Collection of Drawings from curious antique Gems, most of them in the possession of the Nobility and Gentry of this Kingdom, etched after the manner of Rembrandt," by Thomas Worlidge .
