He thanks Mary Frances Gell for the photograph of the portrait of Sir John Franklin. He goes on to express how it will form a personal link between the family of Sir John and Admiralty and future officers who will serve on H.M.S. Franklin once it is commissioned for service (middle of June 1938). He invites Miss gell to present the picture personally.
