Details of Gell's claim to the Phillip's portrait of Sir John Franklin (1824) with details of possible evidence as proof. Claims that portrait was not sold, should have passed to his late wife, Franklin's only issue, and to their son Philip Lyttleton Gell of Langley Lodge, Oxford.
