On having found papers in his office; the portrait could be recovered from Miss Cracroft if proof could be obtained about the payment by Franklin to Mr Phillips and the terms of his will had been adhered to; the difficulties lie in the terms of the will being superceded in 1855; need for Gell to write to Miss Cracroft stating the full facts of his renewed claim
