Title
Letter by J.N. Simpkinson to Fred, on the rents of the Porden estate
Date
17 Mar 1856
Description
He admits to difficulties over their joint business with their own inexperience; his agreement with Mr Rickards that trouble and expense would be caused by sale, particularly with J.P.G. [John Philip Gell] as underlessee of tenements; he approves of plan of capitalisation (for benefit of the children) buts demurs to project of making trustees responsible for realisation of the capital, a fictitous sum dependent on future contingencies and broken into already by J.P.G.; he supposes they do not mean to make them responible, only to make them look it; his hesitation in allowing miscellaneous Van Diemens Land property being put into the marriage trust, as they as trustees are engaged only with regard to the Porden rents and property going to Eleanor in her father's will; he is grieved to hear of Mr Gell's illness which he had not heard about
