Description
The two letters relate to Iabella Cracroft having care of John Franklin's child, Eleanor, while he is away on his second Arctic land expedition, his first wife having died. Isabella Cracroft took on the care of the child for several years until the Franklin family left for Van Diemen's Land [now Tasmania] in 1836.
