TitleLetter from Catherine Fraser to Eleanor Isabella Franklin, relating to attempts to improve the circumstances of the prisoner Henry Voller
Date15 Feb [1848]
DescriptionReferences to Henry Voller at Newgate; she heard from Lady Pine that she had spoken to the Governor, Mr Cope, and the Surgeon, Mr McMurdo; their impressions of his charcater were favourable, but Henry had first spoken of pleading guilty and since retracted; he will probably be sent to the House of Correction, being too old for Parkhurst; once the term of imprisonment expires the only asylum available would be the Refuge at Hoxton; she is only visiting, but it will be several weeks before she returns to Camberwell, hopefully calling on Eleanor and Lady Franklin when she is settled at home. Letter only dated 15 Feb, but the year 1848 has been added in pencil.
