Administrative History | Marianne Jane Simpkinson (1824-1865) was the daughter of Sir John and Lady Mary Simpkinson (nee Griffin) and niece of Lady Franklin. She corresponded with her cousin Eleanor Isabella Franklin later Gell, whom she seems to have supported in Eleanor's disputes with Lady Franklin. Marianne converted to Roman Catholicism in 1851. She went on to marry Annibale Paulucci de Calboli on 31 July 1858, at the Romish Chapel, London; they had three sons, Raniero (born in Rome 15 Mar 1861, diplomat and Italian politician, died 12 Feb 1931), Luigi and Guido, who were orphaned by the deaths of their parents in 1865. |
