Administrative History
The Eckington Stick and Wheel Club was co-founded by Mrs Elizabeth Marper (1913-1990) and Mr Basil Hayes (1920-1969) in 1960 with the aim of "provid[ing] facilities for education and physical and mental recreation" for disabled people.
Custodial History
These records were donated to Eckington Library in January 2011 by a descendant of one of the founding members. The records were transferred to Derbyshire Record Office via Chesterfield Library in April 2025.
Appraisal
Exact duplicates of three items in the collection were disposed of. Paying-in books and cash receipts 1987-2005 were part of the original donation, but not retained by Derbyshire Record Office.
