| Administrative History | In 1828 William Pole Thornhill (c1807-1876) married Isabella Gell (1800-1878), daughter of Philip Gell, MP (1775–1842) of Hopton Hall. William and Isabella inherited Hopton Hall on her father's death but ultimately renounced the title which passed to Henry Pole, second son of Edward Sacheverell Chandos Pole, of Radbourne Hall, and was later known as Henry Chandos-Pole-Gell. |
