Administrative History
Disley Stanley Newtown Board School opened on 23 Jul 1877. It consisted of a Mixed School and an Infant School, each with its own headteacher. Newtown was at that time part of Disley and therefore in Cheshire. With the Local Government Act 1888 it became part of Derbyshire as a separate civil parish before being added to New Mills in 1934.
