Administrative HistoryThe third son of Edward Sacheverell Chandos-Pole (1792-1863) and his wife Anna Maria, William was born on 14 July 1833 and educated at Eton College. William was the rector at Trusley and then at Radbourne from 1866 to his death on 3 March 1895. William married Christiana Crackenthorpe (daughter of Captain Askew, R.N.) on 26 January 1865 at Ford in Northumberland (ref: Derby Mercury, 8 Feb 1865); they had two children: Margaret, born on 27 April 1866 and Christopher, born on 14 November 1867 (baptised in Trusley and Radbourne respectively). Margaret died aged 64 on 26 March 1931 at Everett Hall [4 High Street], Puckeridge in Ware, Hertfordshire (ref: Derby Daily Telegraph, 30 Jul 1931).
Custodial HistoryThese records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in November 2019. The diaries had been retained by Margaret during her lifetime and were inherited by her nephew Peter, from whom the donor is descended.
