Description
Letters written by George Henry mason, butcher of Bolsover, to his wife Sarah Ann and daughter Midgie (Sarah Ann) whilst convalescing at Buxton during September 1901.
From the letters it appears that George was receiving treatment for painful legs and ankles. He talks of taking numerous baths and receiving water treatment. He gives his thoughts on the town and the surrounding area, having taken walks for exercise.

Administrative History
George Henry Mason owned the butchers shop G H Mason located on the market place in Bolsover. He was married to Sarah Ann and had two children Sarah Ann, known as Midgie, and George Henry Thompson Mason. The family lived next door to the shop. G H Mason retired in 1921 and died in 1938.

These letters were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in November 2018 by the granddaughter of G H Mason
