Papers deriving from an investigation by Operation Mole and the Orpheus Caving Club of Derby into some earth tremors which occurred in the Winster area in February 1952, including correspondence (to and from Nellie Kirkham, Doug Nash, Roy Paulson and others), plans, notes and reports.

Typescript report addressed to D G Gilman, Clerk to Derbyshire County Council, with isoseismal maps A and B, referred to in the report and explanatory reference. By Sydney G Clift, M.Sc., FGS, Planning Department, Derbyshire County Council, dated 26 Apr 1952.

Correspondence between Doug Nash and J Stanley Thornton of Winster Manor, also a director of J W Thornton Ltd, Manufacturers of Thornton's Chocolates. The principal item is a 9-page letter from Nash to Thornton, dated 28 Apr 1952, thanking him for his positive reception of the initial report and addressing issues raised in Thornton's letter of 15 Apr 1952.
