Description | Executor's Account Book, covering the period immediately following Harrison's death in September 1750 up until 1768, and reference is made to various Derbyshire locations (Hope, Castleton, Glossop, Loosehill, Alport and Chapel [-en-le-Frith]), as well as "Penniston" and "Middop". The entries record the sale of Harrison's goods and chattels in the two weeks following his death; thereafter tenants' names and rentals paid are recorded, as are payments made on Harrison's account. The latter appear to be payments of interest and legacies made to various individuals, as part of a Trust Estate (presumably set up by Harrison). Joseph Ibbotson and John Greaves are the executors of Thomas Harrison. At the end of the book are the executor's and other accounts for a Richard Gould of Hope in Derbyshire, 1822-1827. |
Administrative History | Thomas Harrison was buried at Hope on 12 Sep 1755, following his death on 9 Sep 1755.
Richard Gould married Elizabeth Bagshaw at Hope on 17 Sep 1767. By 1787 they had had seven children (including Micah whose name is can be found in this volume). He was buried at Hope on 29 Dec 1822. Although his marriage entry describes him as being of the parish of Hope, he does not appear to have been baptised there. |
Custodial History | These records were donated to Sheffield Archives in September 2014 by a private individual and transferred to Derbyshire Record Office in November 2016. |
