| Title | C B Tattershall to Joseph Oakes |
| Date | 3 Apr 1837 |
| Description | I think the transaction with Mr Butcher one of the most tricky and fraudulent I have ever met with; in any suit it would be necessary to contemplate the contract between you; it appears you have no evidence to the contract; will the evidence extend to identify the quantity of patterns delivered; if no, evidence might be admitted as to what was a fair price; if you have been so incautious as to talk to the Butchers in front of their servants so as to be fixed with some bargain, you would be held to the bargain; what part of the receipt did you write; it is unfortunate that you omitted to have any memorandum in writing; the death of my sister causes me to got to Sheffield and I shall call on you on Saturday. |
