J G Barnes to Henry Ludlow: I paid John Oldham £177 9ss in July 1840 as his wife's share of the residue of Richard Clay's estate; £1000 consols were retained for the widow's annuity and £195 consols to pay the same amount to Hemingway Clay at 21, which produced £182 18s 4d when sold in 1845.
