Title
Articles of agreements between David Barnes of Ashgate, gentleman and John Wilcockson of Brampton, gentleman, and John Smith, Ebenezer Smith, Joseph Fletcher Smith and John Bale of Walton, ironmasters and co-partners; reciting lease to Smith and others of ironstone at Walton; whereas Barnes and Wilcockson are entitled to a sough for draining two coal mines at Brampton, and whereas the lands whereon the ironstone has been leased lie near to the collieries and whereas Smith and others have been allowed to drive a cross sough from the ironstone to the said sough; Smith and others to be allowed to use the sough for 21 years at 5s per annum; proviso that once the ironstone pits are worked out, they shall be filled in and shall support the roof of the cross sough where it runs under the brook, mill dam, mill goyt and Widow Stevenson's sough.
