Description | The Swing Riots were an uprising by agricultural workers, targeting agricultural machinery among other things. They began in Kent in 1830, but there were further incidents across many counties which have been linked with the uprising. These papers derive from Clive Leivers's research into The Swing Riots as part of a major research project co-ordinated by Michael Holland, culminating in the publication of "Swing Unmasked" by FACHRS in 2005. |
