Title
Health/Wellbeing project file: Mapping the Way to Wellbeing
Date
2008
Description
This was a partnership with the University of Derby, Buxton Research Faculty, to develop arts programmes that could improve health and wellbeing in Bolsover District.
The file shows how the partnership initiated a project called "How Do You Look?", with artist Jan Flamank, addressing the subject of body image in schools (i.e. pupils' perception of their own physical appearance). Activities were carried out at Tibshelf Community School and at Heritage School, Clowne, in 2009, with pupils being encouraged "to look at the language they use to describe themselves ... then construct a new, visual statement, about themselves in the form of artwork". The partnership was also working on projects aimed at reducing tobacco smoking.
The file includes agendas/minutes/notes from planning meetings, funding information, application to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, evaluation forms completed by the artist, project files on two CDs and anti-smoking leaflets.
