Title
Festivals/celebration events file: VJ Day celebrations, Bolsover
Date
1995
Description
Papers including correspondence with The District of Bolsover and others, regarding the creation of a "Spiral of Doves" sculpture to commemorate the end of the Second World War in Japan. Junction Arts asked representatives from each of the fourteen parishes in the district to contribute to the spiral, and to write messages of peace of the tail of each paper dove. Cate Clark, designer and artist for the project, envisaged the creation of 300-500 such doves. The file also includes photographs of a man and woman making paper doves and one of the completed items, a design template for the doves, a press release and a two books (one handwritten, one printed) containing copies of all the messages.
