Description
A note at the beginning says "The following Account of the Lands and Tithe of Breaston .... was copied from a paper, which is supposed to have been written by the late Mr Whyman of Aston, but which has no date affixed to it. Mr Whyman was agent to the late Mrs Shuttleworth of Aston.
"The Revd Charles Holden being about to have these tithes valued - this was written to assist the valuation March 21st, 1800 by R M" [Richard Murphy].
Gives names of closes, occupiers' names, titheable pasture, meadow and tillage, total acreage of each close. Followed by a summary of each persons' land and tithe collected, giving person's name, amount of pasture at 6d per acre, meadow at 2s per acre and tillage at 3s 10d per acre, total of land paying tithe, total value of tithe.
