| Description | Abbot and Convent remit and (quitclaim) completely Lord Nicholas of all right and claim which they had in common pasture for their animals in Grymsowde and Rothlastonwode [Rosliston wood], together with a drove and way which Nicholas has in le Hauntboys so that he can enclose the woods and can hold them in perpetuity in private holding (se parabilis). Nicholas, with the consent of his son and heir John, gives in remission, and by quitclaim to the Abbot and convent (of Merevale )in exchange 4 acres of wood called le Hauntboys in Seale, lying near the park of the said Abbot and Convent of Great Seale - 16 and a half paces together with crops growing (?) on the same. Nicholas with the consent of his son John concedes in exchange to the Abbey and Convent that they can enclose and obtain in private holding all that piece of land lying between the meadows of the said Lord Nicholas of Cotes, and the said Abbey and Convent, in Great Seale, which they obtained at the chase of their animals, at the pasture of Grymswode and Rothlastonwode, together with that parcel of land called la Gore at the head of that chase between the said parks towards the south, and at the head of the said parcel of land of the said chase and at the head of that Gore, the said Abbot and Convent can enclose and dig a ditch. If the animals of the said Abbot and Convent enter into the parcel of land and the Gore for pasturing and enter inside the meadow of Cotes and Rosliston by a defect in the fencing, Nicholas may neither impound them or molest them, for the custody of the said animals in the name of the said Abbot and Convent, shall be found in the same without impediment.
