Archivist NoteNote these are the original "raw" transfers from the reel to reel tape before processing, created as .aiff files. They therefore contain the original mains hum and tape hiss etc. .aiff files are used as archival master files. .aiff files means that a) there are high quality uncompressed master from which copies can be made in future b) along with the .mp3s, increase the chances that the file formats will be readable 50 years from now.
