Description
DVD compilation of plays and family film sequences, transferred from cine films by MACE, 2006. Includes:
VTS_02_1.VOB (1) Village Players: Early Shots — Macbeth — 1st Merry Wives. Silent, black and white film recording. Includes shots of the audience and unidentified actors. Macbeth is filmed with actors outside, while the Merry Wives of Windsor is filmed inside on a stage [1935-1936].
VTS_03_1.VOB (2) The Merry Wives of Windsor. Silent, colour film recording of the production inside, on the stage. Includes a cast list at the end of the film. Performed 15 April - 5 May 1956.
VTS_05.1.VOB (3) Quiet Weekend. Silent, black and white film recording, with caption cards. Unidentified actors. Filmed outside and inside houses [1930s].
VTS_07_01.VOB (4) Derbyshire Under Snow. Silent, black and white film recording of various scenes of heavy snow around Great Hucklow. Shows postman using horse and cart to deliver post, unidentified people clearing snow drifts on the road to Bretton and a horse drawn snow plough [1930s-1940s].
VT_08_1.VOB (5) Family Film. Silent, colour film recording. Shows unidentified people in a swimming pool, by the coast, children playing in a garden and flower beds [1950s].
VTS_09_01.VOB (6) Garden and Christmas (aka very early family shots). Silent, black and white film recording. Includes footage of unidentified woman in a garden, inside eating breakfast and drinking tea, washing up in a sink and directing a gardener. Also shows L Du Garde Peach in the garden, reading, writing and smoking and unidentified people playing tennis. Another group of unidentified people outside an unidentified house and garden. Final footage is of unidentified people eating Christmas dinner, pulling crackers, wearing paper hats, with adults playing with toys and games 1935.
