Description
This sub-series comprises typed scripts written by Lawrence du Garde Peach for radio plays, produced for the BBC’s Children’s Hour. Each script concerns the life of a historical figure from English or British history, including political leaders, writers, scientists, explorers, monarchs and other public figures such as Horatio Nelson, Samuel Pepys, William Wordsworth, John Milton, Queen Elizabeth I, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Michael Faraday, Grace Darling, Captain Cook and Oliver Cromwell.
Most scripts are typed, some with manuscript annotations or alternative endings. Several duplicates are present, often showing editorial variations.
