Description
This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
The ESTATE of the Revd. Mr.Carver lying at EYAM in the County of Derby. Survey'd in the year 1770 by J.Nuttal. Surveyor:.J[ohn] Nuttal Scale:4 chains to the inch [1:3200]. Size: 52 x 50 cm. Materials: black ink on parchment. Centred on: SK2276 Notes: compass rose, north at top. Shows numbered closes, no terrier, in plots, ?not in geographical positions: some buildings in plan, trees and roads: Eyam Dale and Cussey Dale hatched to denote slope: adjoining landowners named: title in floral cartouche.
