Description | Roland Eir of Hassop, gentleman agrees with William Davenport of Bramall and Roger Downes of Worth, co. Chester, 'squires' (in consideration of the marriage to be had between Stephen Eir, Roland's son and Elyn Downes, daughter of Roger Downes, late of Worth, deceased):- to make a lawful estate of certain property in Assheford and Great Longesdon to Elyn as her jointure; that the rest of his estate is of 20 marks yearly value and that he will not alienate any of it (certain exceptions stated); the manor of Hassop held on lease of Sir William Drure, Brian Rowcliffe and John Cunstable to pass to Stephen and Elyn on the death of Roland and Dorothy his wife; Roland is to provide food and shelter for Stephen and Elyn while they choose to live with him. William and Roger agree to pay Stephen 80 marks. |
