Administrative HistoryThe Heyward family were connected with lead mining for several generations, at least two of them being Barmasters at Ashford. Richard Heyward, surveyor, first appears in 1846 at Bakewell and for the next thirty years produced a wide variety of plans. How the collection came into Bagshawe's hands is not known.
