Description
Consisting of letters sent to his widow and press cuttings relating to his death. The front of the volume contains a photograph of Mr Smedley and poems written in his memory by Mrs Hobson Farrand of Matlock and by 'PB'. The rear of the volume contains a photograph of the memorial erected by his employees with a printed copy of its dedication, a notice of gratitude to Mr and Mrs Smedley by patients of the Hydropathic Hospital (1863), a memorial card and lines translated from the Arabic by Edwin Arnold and printed by Mrs Smedley as a message to her husband's friends.
