Administrative HistoryThe Wild family trace their ancestry back to at least the late 18th century in Winster. This collection primarily relate to the family of John and Beatrice (nee Roper) Wild. John Wild, born 1877, worked as at Mill Close Mine in Darley Dale, and photographs of the Mine and its workers, as well as other local events in Winster in the early 20th century are included. The collection also includes a Reckoning Book from the Great Rake Lead Mine in Matlock where John's father is likely to have worked; and two advertising posters for the family business of another long-standing Winster family, John Heathcote Family Grocer and Tea Dealer.
