Administrative History | Starkholmes CE School was erected in 1878 but records only survive from the 1940s. The school provided education to mixed infants and juniors. It closed in 1991 and was amalgamated with Matlock Town CE Primary to form Matlock St. Giles School in July 1994.
Mrs Blanche Holmes was head teacher at the school from 1947 to 1968. Following her death in 2001 her daughter advertised in the Matlock local press asking former pupils to contact her to share their memories of attending Starkholmes Infant School. The following records are the result of this research. |
Custodial History | These records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in May 2010 |
