| Administrative History | The Zouch family were owners of Codnor Castle and estate from 1496 to 1634. The last member of the Zouch family to live at Codnor Castle was Sir George Zouch who in 1634, due to bankruptcy, sold the castle and estate to Dr Neile, Archbishop of York, and emigrated with his family to Virginia, USA. |
