Administrative History
Board schools were established after the Education Act of 1870. Boards were empowered to build new schools in areas of poor educational provision or else to absorb existing schools. In 1903 Board schools were re-constituted as Council Schools. In administering the Ault Hucknall group of Councils Schools, Derbyshire County Council's Education Committee adopted the same boundaries as had been used by the School Board for the United District of Ault Hucknall. The group of Schools comprised: (New) Heath School, Doe Lea School, Stainsby School and Rowthorne School.
