Administrative History | Herbert Frood (1864-1931) was a developer and producer of textile brake linings for application in motor vehicles and industrial machines. His company, Ferodo Ltd, was founded in 1897 to design, develop and manufacture friction products. Along with supplying commercial car manufacturers, Ferodo Ltd supplied brake and clutch linings for amphibious vehicles during the Second World War and contributed to motor sport and land speed record attempts, including that of Donald Campbell in 1964. With the acquisition of numerous subsidiary companies during the 1980s, Ferdodo Ltd developed into an international concern and is active in research and scientific development of friction technology. |
