| Administrative History | Elizabeth Kirkman was born in Hulland Ward on 18 February 1889, the eldest of eight children of George and Elizabeth (nee White) Kirkman. She married John Thomas Hemmings on 25 December 1911, with whom she had two children (born 1912 and 1918). By the time of the 1939 Register, John (a Permanent Way Inspector), Elizabeth and their son Wilfred, were living in Chapel-en-le-Frith. Elizabeth died in Wales, aged 87, in 1976. |
