Description
Including reference to the evacuation in September 1939 of about 120 children to Chellaston. In November about 50 of these returned and were again taught at the school and in private houses with others who had not been evacuated in September. By early March 1940, only about 35 pupils remained at the Chellaston Evacuation School with most boys being able to reach Anderson Shelters from St James Boys' School in the event of an air raid.
