Indenture in which Clay Cross Colliery Company lease lands constituting the site of the Clay Cross Tunnel to the Midland Railway Company. With attached plan showing the tunnel as a long strip of land from where Clay Lane crosses the Press Brook, across Market Street and High Street to Clay Cross Ironworks near Tupton/Woodthorpe parish boundary, giving acreage of coloured area. With April 1922 note by J Parkins explaining why one strip of the land is left uncoloured and undated note by the Midland Railway estate agent on ownership of another area of land, coloured in error.
