| Title | Middleton Bottom |
| Date | 1966 |
| Description | Although Middleton Incline had closed on the 3rd June 1963, the section to the foot of Middleton Incline did not close until 3rd April 1967. It was little used after the closure of the incline, hence the very overgrown nature of the track. Apart from storage of wagons and a number of tours that took place prior to closure of the whole system little traffic used this section after 1963. Since the track lifting on the incline, buffer stops have been erected at the incline foot. On the left is the branch to Middlepeak Goods Yard. In the background Middleton Top Engine House and chimney are just visible. Middlepeak Quarry has grown considerably since this view in 1966! For copy, see CD/138 |
