| Title | Bond of indemnity by Joseph Alsop, late of the Parish of Darley Dale, but now of Welow, in the county of Southampton, gentleman, who is hereby bound to Peter Walthall of Darley, esq., in the sum of £1,000 to secure his title to property; reciting that on 22 October 1746 a trusteeship was initiated [see above] and that after the death of John Nevill (the eldest son) intestate and unmarried, the lands passed to his eldest brother, Gilbert Nevill of Nottingham, surgeon, being heir at law, and when Mary Nevill (the daughter) reached the age of 21, the sum of £400 was to be paid to her on this property but it was not paid and remained as a charge on the property, Mary Nevill died unmarried and by her will dated 10 May 1768, after certain bequests, left the residue to her two brothers, Gilbert and Langford Nevill of Nottingham, gentlemen, and appointed them her executors, and they became entitled to the said £400 payment. By an indenture dated 11 February 1799 between (1) Langford Nevill, and (2) Elizabeth and Mary Nevill, the daughters of the said Gilbert Nevill decd, it was stated that Gilbert Nevill had paid to Langford Neville £200 on his share of the said £400; recites the descent of land called Nether Darleys and Blackmires, now sold to Peter Walthall4 Oct 1828 |
