Administrative History | In 1844 William Hatfield Gossip was allowed by royal licence to take the surname 'de Rodes' and to use the coat of arms of the Rodes family, whose main family seat since the 16th century had been Barlborough Hall. In the 20th century the Barlborough estate descended to Godfrey Locker Lampson MP After his death, Barlborough Hall was sold for use as a school. The archive includes some documents relating to West Yorkshire estates especially Hatfield and Gatewood near Doncaster. |
