Administrative History | This album contains photographs of the last tram on the Cromford & High Peak railway, together with a summary history. The Cromford & High Peak Railway was created by Acts of Parliament in May 1825, soon after the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. In the first of the Acts, the railway was envisaged as "a Railway or Tramroad for passage of waggons and other carriages, to be propelled thereon by Stationary or Locomotive Steam Engines or other sufficient power". |
