Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Electric Power Company (1901-1948)
Administrative History
The Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Electric Power Company was established by statute in 1901 and ceased to exist when the supply of electicity was nationalised in 1948 and was succeeded by the East Midlands Electricity Board which was then responsible for electricity supply across the East Midlands. It was privatised in March 1990, becoming East Midlands Electricity plc. It was bought by Powergen in 1998, which itself was bought by German firm E.ON in 2002.
