Description
Couple seated at a table with a frizeur (hair-dresser) attending to the man. The woman (three-quarter length) is in profile, facing right, and leans on the table in the centre. She wears a pale gown with pronounced bustle, ruffle on the front of the dress, pink sash and ruffs at the wrist. Her hair is in loose curls down her back, and she wears a mobcap with a pink ribbon. Standing behind the table is the frizeur in a long pigtail queue and red and white striped cap, and a dark jacket with a high stand-fall collar. He holds a comb between his teeth and in his right hand a hairdressing implement. Seated to the right of the table is a man in breeches and a morning gown, which is trimmed at the neck and cuffs. He is wearing a toupée of a style fashionable at the time. He is reading the paper. On the table are a powder puff and other hairdressing accessories.
On the verso is a pencil sketch of a woman's head. Available on CD 157.
